BISP Internship Program

The BISP Internship Program is initiated by the Benazir Income Support Program with the aim of offering training and skill enhancement prospects to young individuals. This initiative seeks to enhance their employability and contribute to Pakistan’s economic progress.

For several years, the Benazir Income Support Program has been extending financial aid to impoverished and deserving individuals. Simultaneously, it has introduced an internship program to empower young individuals and students. Through this program, participants receive internet access along with a stipend of ten thousand rupees and complimentary training.

Understanding Internships

Internships provide brief periods of supervised practical work experience in alignment with a student’s academic focus or career aspirations. The program incorporates learning opportunities through specific briefings designed to facilitate hands-on work experience.

Intern Eligibility

Applicants should possess a 16-year HEC-recognized degree or an equivalent three-year diploma, with a minimum of 50% marks or a 2.5 CGPA in Matric, FSC, or the final degree/diploma. Interns will be selected for a duration of three to six months and will receive a fixed monthly salary of 10,000 rupees upon maintaining 80% attendance. Applicants must be between 20 to 30 years of age at the time of application submission. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Graduates from Madrasas are also eligible, and there is a 2% quota for disabled applicants and a 5% quota for minorities.

Application Process

All internship positions within the Secretariat will be advertised on the Secretariat’s official website by the Human Resources Wing at HQ, Islamabad. Prospective interns are advised to visit the BISP Secretariat website for internship opportunities.

If necessary, applicants should complete the online application form and provide a letter of sponsorship from their respective institution (university or college). Applications will only be considered for the advertised internship program. Applicants should refrain from submitting copies of their diplomas unless explicitly requested.

Guidelines and Conditions

The internship will span a period of no less than three months and no more than six months, adhering to standard working hours. Interns can commence their internship only after agreeing to the stipulated terms. During the internship period, interns are not permitted to engage in consultations with the BISP Secretariat.

Interns are not recognized as Secretariat staff members, and any allowances negotiated are subject to mutual agreement between the intern and the BISP Secretariat. A Memorandum of Understanding with Universities and Institutions is signed for internships involving BISP undergraduate students. Those with an attendance rate of 80% will be offered a six- to eight-week internship by BISP without any future obligations.

BISP Secretariat Responsibilities

The BISP Secretariat is committed to delivering a valuable experience to interns, encompassing meaningful tasks and opportunities for practical learning within their chosen field of study and work. A designated division staff member will supervise interns, addressing their concerns and issues. The BISP Secretariat is expected to contribute value to the organization through its work, albeit in a non-staff capacity. These guidelines serve to refine the existing framework for internship placements within the BISP Secretariat.

Internship Objectives

The internship program seeks to achieve several objectives:

  • Raise awareness of BISP’s work among young individuals and cultivate advocates.
  • Attract and nurture future talent.
  • Offer interns a chance to engage in various aspects of BISP’s operations.
  • Facilitate professional growth opportunities for students.
  • Establish an advocacy network for public sector entities.

Internship Scope

These guidelines apply to all interns engaged with the BISP Secretariat. The internship program stands as a distinct form of short-term engagement and is not classified under any other category.
